What is the difference between a freestanding unit and built-in unit?

Freestanding refrigerators are the most common refrigerator because they are designed for easy relocation. When installing a freestanding refrigerator, you should allow for 5 inches of space around the side of the unit and most importantly the back of the unit. The compressor is located in the back of the unit, the extra 5 inches of space is needed to allow air to circulate and prevent your unit from overheating.
Built-in refrigerators are designed to be installed flush against cabinetry on the sides and top of the unit with a space allowance of 2-3 inches between the back of the unit and the wall. The extra space is needed in the back of the unit to allow proper air flow to the compressor. Built-in refrigerators have a front vent that helps air circulate which is why they don’t need as much space allowance in the back. This is also why it is important to purchase a built-in unit for that application, as freestanding units do not have this front vent.

What are different layouts for refrigerators and what are pros and cons of each ?

  • Freezer on the top: The most standard model is a freezer on the top, and refrigerator on the bottom, each with a single door that opens from the left. This is probably going to be the cheapest model you can find.
  • Freezer on the bottom: This arrangement allows slightly easier fresh food access. It’s sometimes priced slightly higher than top freezer models.
  • Side-by-side: This arrangement stores frozen food on the left and refrigerated foods on the right.
  • French doors: This is a pricier option but very popular. These models combine a drawer at the bottom for the freezer and full-width double doors on the top.

Do i have to use a dishwasher detergent, or i can use other types of soap ?

You should not substitute or add any other cleaning products or hand-dishwashing liquid for automatic dishwasher detergent. All other types of detergents or soaps produce too many suds for the water action to clean your dishes. Too many suds may also cause a dishwasher to overflow, which can be damaging to both your dishwasher and the surfaces around it.Are there items I should not place in my dishwasher? How do I know if I need a wine cellar? What is the difference between a wine cooler, beverage cooler and refrigerator? What factors I should consider while buying a washing machine? What type of detergent should I use for my washing machine? What damages clothes more, the washer or the dryer? What is better, direct drive motors or belt drive motors in a washing machine? How an Electric Oven Works? How a Gas Oven Works?Which Size Cooker Hood Do I Need? What are the Different Types of Cooker Hood?

What is the difference between wine cooler, beverage cooler and refrigerator ?

A wine cooler is set to a higher temperature range than a refrigerator or beverage cooler because wine should not be stored as cold as other beverages. On average a wine cooler will not offer temperatures below 46°F degrees. A beverage cooler and refrigerator are similar to each other, but beverage coolers frequently do not offer the adjustable shelves or door storage that a refrigerator often does, and they often have glass doors in order to display the contents.
A wine and beverage cooler has a wide temperature range so it may be used for either, but keep in mind if you want to store both at the same time you will either have too-cold wine or too-warm drinks depending on how you choose to set the internal thermostat.

How an electric oven works ?

Once you’ve selected the temperature on an electric oven, the bottom heating element will be activated. Your oven contains a copper wire that is connected to both your temperature gauge and your oven box which reads the temperature you have selected, and relays this information back to the main oven unit. The heating element within your unit will then increase in temperature until it reaches the desired level of heat, at which point it will cut out. Your oven will then maintain this level of heat until you choose to turn your appliance off.

How gas oven works ?

A gas oven is connected to a gas fitting in your wall. When you turn the oven on, it releases gas from your main fitting into the pipes on your oven and feeds this into the oven space, while an ignitor generates the spark which creates the flame. This flame will generate the heat that cooks your food.

What are the different types of cooker hood ?

There are a few varying styles of cooker hood available on the market. We’re going to introduce you to the main types to help you decide which style is best for you. Our article on the different types of cooker hoods explains how different styles operate, providing more detailed information.
Canopy HoodsCanopy hoods are situated within canopy housing or overhead cupboards and are often discreet and not very visible. These are also known as built-in cooker hoods.

Ceiling HoodsThese are built into your ceiling and will generally feature a remote control as they tend to lie flat and are out of reach.

Wall-mounted HoodsThese look different to most styles as they are vertical and not horizontal. As the name suggests these are placed on your wall. These are great if there are height restrictions above your cooking area.

Island Cooker HoodsThese are ceiling mounted and hang down by a steel frame. Located above your kitchen island, these absorb smoke and odours that wouldn’t be reached by a nearby wall-mounted unit.

Pendant Cooker HoodsThese are similar to the island extractor fan described above, however these feature a decorative pendant around the circumference of the cooker hood.

Downdraft Cooker HoodsThis style is less common but growing in popularity. The downdraft extractor fan is built into your island or worktop and aren’t visible when not in use, rising from the surface when turned on.
